Life Changes

April and May were very busy months for me. I did a school wide residency at Juniper Elementary in April. In May I was at Lynch school working with the K-2nd grades. I love teaching art in the schools. It is so fun to see and hear the excitement in the kids as they are free to create!

I always get very inspired by what I see them create and it stirs my own creative juices! One of the joys of working with young artists is how it impacts my own drawing and art practice. Along the way I have done a lot of simple drawings of animals and other things to help simplify and teach young artist were to begin.

Back in March my husband started a publishing company on Amazon. (it’s a long story) He wanted to test the program, so he took many of my drawings and created a coloring book. Here we are a few months later and we have published 3 coloring books! As well as Scott’s first book! The first coloring book is called Animals with Heart, the second one is Robot Sports. This one is especially cool for me because of my father. He was the first robot I knew! As any good daughter would, I dedicated the book to him! It includes a special page with a photo of him in the lower half of the Robbie the Robot suit! You can get the book here….https://a.co/d/9YyI3yU

The latest coloring book is for Toddlers, it is called, 1st coloring book for toddlers simple and fun. It will be live on Amazon sometime next week.

I always wanted to create a book. As a child I thought about illustrating kids books. I just loved all the drawings I saw in the books I read as a child, and of course I loved coloring books. I did a great deal of copying of what I saw in those books. They gave me my very first art lessons! It is very rewarding for me to see little artists coloring my images and counting the hidden hearts I draw into each image. Plus there are always fun facts!

Because of this new direction and publishing adventure, I will be taking a break this summer from teaching art camps. I will continue to do art walks and fairs through September. We have also listed our house for sale. IF it sells that will also change my teaching. I will keep you all posted where this all goes!

Thank you all for the support through the years. I will be in Redmond June 6 for the art walk from 5-8pm. I will have my coloring books as well as prints of my paintings. I will also be in LaPine, June 15 and 16 for the Rhubarb Festival. It is a fun family event! Hope to see some of you there! I am open to doing group art events and other things for you all, so please reach out if there is a need! You can also get updates by following me on Facebook and Instagram!
