Art as Therapy

Creating art can be a powerful form of therapy as it can help individuals express their thoughts and emotions in a non-verbal way. As a classroom teacher for many years I have seen the power of Art in many of my students. One of the things I have experienced and seen is that art can create relaxation. Engaging in art can be a calming and relaxing activity, as it can help to reduce stress and anxiety. Creating art can be a form of mindfulness, as it requires individuals to be present in the moment and focus on the task at hand. For me, many times I just need to ‘scribble marks or doddle to relax. I encourage everyone to find what kind of Art will relax you!
